FANAR ZAK

Fanar (which means lantern or light in Arabic) is a Canadian actress born in Jordan. Her debut in the acting world commenced in 2022, where she had the privilege of collaborating with prominent figures in the industry such as Eli Roth, Keith Sutherland, and Alanna Ubach in acclaimed productions including Rabbit Hole and Be Mine. Fanar's passion for the arts was evident from an early age, having participated in several theatrical productions during her formative years. Fuelled by her artistic aspirations, she honed her craft with esteemed acting mentors, Lewis Baumander and Steven Yaffee, at Toronto's premier acting institution, the LB Acting Studio. Shortly after graduating from the University of Toronto, with an Honours Bachelor of Science,  she signed with Ritter Talent Agency and began her career as an actress.

AUDREY MCAREE

As BRITTANY​

 

Audrey McAree is a Toronto-based actress who began acting in local community theatre at the age of 8 and went on to attend Queen Elizabeth Sr P.S. in their arts program. She later attended Cawthra Park for their drama program, where she honed her skills in class, school productions and the Sears Drama Festival with a play she wrote and directed herself. She is a recent graduate of Humber College’s Acting for Film and Television program receiving the Academic Award of Excellence. Audrey is represented by Choice Talent and has two other short films in addition to Sisterhood premiering this year - The Tall Man and Going Fishin’ Along the Okefenokee. You can currently find Audrey working at Netflix’s: Stranger Things - The Experience.

ALEXANDRA NAJARRO

As JESS

 

From the ice to the big screen, Alexandra knew from a young age that she has a strong passion for storytelling. At the age of 7, Alexandra began figure skating competitively and quickly became an accomplished athlete.  Her acting career officially began when she was chosen as a featured background skater for the Disney movie Ice Princess. Since then, she has continued to grow and diversify as an actor by landing roles both on and off the ice, including for Amazon Prime’s series The Boys. To strengthen her natural storytelling abilities, Alexandra pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree through York University’s Theatre program while simultaneously studying film acting at private studios in Toronto. She has starred in several commercials, including those for Swiss Chalet and Assembly Park. Alexandra continues to land lead roles in both student and short films. Most recently, she was a lead actor in Season 4 of Haunted Hospitals. Her talent as an actor was publicly recognized after she starred in a role for the Phone Interview, which was nominated for several awards and won the Honourable Mention Awards at the Bad Theatre/Bad Film Fest 2021.

KATELYN DOYLE

As PARIS​

 

Katelyn Doyle is a classically trained Canadian actor and creator based in Toronto. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Windsor, where she learned many techniques regarding theatre, composition, and film. You can currently see her performing in the Stranger Things: Experience at Netflix’s Cinespace Marine Terminal Studio, or as a puppeteer for the University of Toronto’s upcoming production of The Tin Drum. As for film, you can see her in Debby Friday’s original short film, Good Luck which premieres this April, as well as in the short film, Popcorn, a finalist dramatic short at The Emerging Artists Film Festival. RYAN BARAGER

As THE CREATURE

Ryan Barager is a new Canadian actor from Newmarket, Ontario making his debut in Sisterhood, the short horror/comedy film by Humber College's Film and Television Production program. He is a former member of Ovation! Acting Academy and is a current student at Seneca College. He would like to thank the entire cast and crew for welcoming him and has had an incredibly fun experience working on Sisterhood, and experiencing the movie magic of makeup and prosthetics.

HEATHER WOOLWRIDGE

DIRECTOR

 

Heather Woolridge is a student filmmaker studying at Humber College in the Film and Television Production program. With a diverse range of experience in filmmaking, Heather's previous work includes being the Picture Editor on the short documentary Ella Ella, as well as writing, directing, editing, and composing for her short film, An Eclipse. Additionally, Heather co-wrote, co-directed, and co-edited the short action comedy, xXGamerGodXx

Originally from a musical background, Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music however, after experimenting with filmmaking, she realized that her true passion lies behind the camera. She is thrilled to have worked on Sisterhood as Director with such a talented crew.

HAYLEY PINTO

PRODUCER

 

Currently enrolled in Humber College's Film and Television Production Program, Hayley's attention to detail is unmatched, a skill that is undeniably a great asset to have in a producer. Most recently, she produced a short documentary, Le Sélect, that was accepted to multiple film festivals and won Best Cinematography at the Toronto Documentary Feature & Short Film Festival 2023. She is passionate and diligent, allowing others around her to be inspired by her work ethic. She leads on and off set, ensuring all crew members are seen, valued, and successful in their roles. Due to her meticulous nature, directors needn't worry about logistics. Her aim is always to bring any director's vision to life to its highest potential.

She continues to hone her skills as a producer hoping to bring the same success to all future projects.

GILAD LEVY

1ST ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

​

Gilad Levy, an aspiring filmmaker and photographer, is currently enrolled in the highly experiential Film and Television Production program at Humber College. Prior to Sisterhood, he has written and directed his own short film Watch and Learn, and wrote and produced the documentary short What Remains which has gone on to be accepted to multiple film festivals. Originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, Gilad served in the Israeli Defense Force as a combat medic in the special operations engineering unit. Building discipline, powering through tough conditions, and valuing teamwork, are among the many qualities that make Gilad a valuable asset to any crew. As a natural leader, Gilad’s aim is to blend his creative edge with his skills and experiences to evolve as a storyteller.  Well-travelled, enthusiastic, and curious about the world, Gilad is on track to creating films that will influence the masses the way film has influenced him.

EDDY YANG

WRITER

Eddy Yang is an aspiring screenwriter, director, and cinematographer. Sisterhood marks Eddy’s debut working as a screenwriter. Having immigrated to Canada from Shenyang, China, Eddy’s creative vision is beautifully amplified by his cultural heritage. Sisterhood is Eddy’s love letter to the Horror Comedy genre. He is interested in further exploring the creative space of genre films and how to break their boundaries.

BRANDON COLE

Brandon Cole is a driven filmmaker with a strong passion for the camera and lighting department. Brandon has shown a passion and skill for both behind-the-camera work and directing. Through Humber's Film and Television Production program, Brandon has written and directed a 4-minute silent film, a documentary short Pop Shiv, about skateboarding culture, and has served as a cinematographer on the short horror/comedy Sisterhood. He is dedicated to honing his craft, growing as a filmmaker, and is excited to see where his passion will take him in the future.

SHIMA MAJDPOUR

1ST ASSISTANT CAMERA​

Shima Majdpour is an extremely passionate film student who thrives in teamwork and leadership settings, currently completing the hands-on Film and Television Production Program at Humber College. To date, she has written and directed a stylistic silent short film, The Applicanta thesis-style documentary short regarding the parallels between religion and social media called Devout Following, and most recently worked as a 1st assistant camera on two narrative short films - Sisterhood and Fresh Catch. With strong communication and time management skills, a detail-oriented mind, a creative outlook, and a friendly personality, Shima is perfectly suited for the highly intensive nature of the entertainment industry. Curious about people and how we all navigate life, she is pursuing her dream of being a writer/director and creating contemplative, ground-breaking and deeply touching works of art that can shift minds and hearts while highlighting the humour that keeps us all going.

SARA MCKEE

CAMERA OPERATOR

 

 

Sara McKee has been passionate about film most of her life. She is currently attending Humber College for their Film and Television Production program to pursue her dream of becoming a cinematographer. Last fall she was the co-creator and cinematographer of the short documentary Sensational Recipe and most recently was the camera operator for the short horror/comedy film, Sisterhood. As a horror film fanatic, she is thrilled to share her work from this film and looks forward to pursuing more roles in the camera department on stories that are sure to startle audiences.

VIKTORIIA SHPACHENKO

SOUND RECORDIST

 

Viktoriia Shpachenko is a sound recordist who is passionate about the art of sound in filmmaking. Hailing from Ukraine, she is currently enrolled in Humber’s Film and TV Production program, where she is honing her skills and knowledge in the field. Since finding her passion for sound, she has served as a sound recordist on the short documentary production of Ella, Ella, and multiple short narrative films including Collections, A Facebook Story, and Sisterhood, where she has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge. Viktoriia is a fast learner with keen attention to detail, enabling her to work quickly and effectively. She is enthusiastic about collaborating with talented and passionate individuals to create stories that leave a lasting impact on audiences. Her dedication to delivering top-quality sound makes her an invaluable asset to any production team.

STEPHANIE MILLAR

PRODUCTION DESIGNER​

Stephanie Millar is a 22-year-old filmmaker and aspiring director. She took film studies at Wilfrid Laurier University during 2019-2021 and is currently studying film production at Humber College. At the start of this year, she released her short documentary, Beauty Behind The Madness, into the film festival market. More recently, she did the production design for the film, Sisterhood, through which she has learned a lot about the steps and challenges that production designers must face when creating the world of the story and the director's vision. She is looking forward to using what she has learned in her future filmmaking endeavours.

MATHIAS TOM YEW

ART DIRECTOR 

 

Mathias K. Tom Yew is a second-year film student at Humber College’s Film and Television Production program. He’s been interested in filmmaking since he took Communications Technology in high school, and has been making amateur short films independently since 2018. He has experience in various art department areas through his short films and is working on developing these skills professionally. Mathias is also focusing on improving his producing skills, as he produced a short, student documentary in their third semester. He intends on pursuing production design, art direction, and producing in his career, and is interested in working on narrative films moving forward.

ANNIQUE LALIBERTE 

1ST ASSISTANT ART DIRECTOR

 

Residing in Brampton, Ontario, Annique Laliberte is a 2020 graduate of Humber's Media Foundation program and is currently in her second year of the Film and Television Production program at Humber College.  Her interests lie in multiple departments including screenwriting, art, continuity and directing.  She recently served as the first assistant art director and foley artist on the studio drama productions Sisterhood and Collections. Before that, she was the assistant sound mixer and boom operator on the short documentary Sensational Recipe. Annique enjoys collaborating with and encouraging other aspiring creators and hopes to continuously expand her knowledge of cinema and television as she pursues her passion for writing and art direction.

STANFORD GOUGH

KEY GAFFER​

 

Stanford Gough (he/him) is a 24-year-old interdisciplinary artist studying film production at Humber College. He recently served as a key gaffer on short films Collections and Sisterhood and is excited to pursue a career working in film and television lighting departments. Stanford recently produced the Humber student sociolinguistic documentary Not Just Words and premiered his first-year student film Twenty-Seven at the Toronto Short Film Festival. He is passionate about using his platform to tell stories that help young people feel comfortable living their authentic lives, as well as practicing and promoting compassionate and sustainable

art practices.

STEPHANIE COWAN

SCRIPT SUPERVISOR​

Stephanie Cowan is a Toronto-based filmmaker focused on script supervising and cinematography, currently enrolled in Humber College's Film and Television Production program. As she previously studied linguistics at Western University, she enjoys merging her passion for language and filmmaking in projects like her most recent short documentary Not Just Words. Since then, Stephanie’s work as a script supervisor on the short film Sisterhood made her fall in love with continuity work. She has always had a wide range of interests in filmmaking, exemplified by her work as a digital information technician, behind-the-scenes photographer, and unit publicist for the short film Collections. Stephanie has had a personal film or videography project in the works at all times since long before she enrolled in film school. Until she enters the industry full-time, Stephanie works as a barista catering on film and television sets around Toronto.

ASHLEY KAUR​

CASTING DIRECTOR

 

Ashley Kaur is currently attending her second year of the Film & Television Production program. Ashley recently earned her first credit as Director on the short documentary Fostering Connection. In her  Casting Director role on Sisterhood, Ashley was in charge of creating casting calls, receiving and reviewing self-tapes, setting up audition times with the actors and assisting the Director in any way regarding the selection process. Through this role, Ashley has been able to strengthen her time management, as well as communication skills by being a point of contact between the cast, crew, makeup artists and stunt coordinators. She looks forward to taking these skills with her and applying them to her many roles to come.

RAVAL ALVIAREZ

PICTURE/VFX EDITOR​

Raval Alviarez has over a decade of accomplished experience in motion pictures, technology, and multimedia projects. With an abundance of academic and experiential education from the University of Toronto and Humber College on how we view and consume media, he approaches every opportunity in ways that are empathetic and engaging. Within the last year, he has showcased a documentary short he directed and edited, Le Sélect, at the Toronto Short Film Festival. He has gone on to receive awards from NBC Universal and Meridian Artists’ in recognition of the work he has put forward as a student of Humber’s Film & Television Production program. He aims to tell stories that encourage us to confront experiences that are different from our own so that we may begin to develop a collective empathy for one another.

CLAIRE LLOYD​

DIT / BTS PHOTOGRAPHER

Claire Lloyd, a passionate producer with an interest in sound editing, is constantly exploring new opportunities to develop their skills. They are not afraid to take a risk if it will result in learning something new about their identity or humanity in general. Most recently they were the Digital Media Technician and Behind-The-Scenes Photographer for the Studio Drama Sistherood. Previously, Claire produced a documentary short Farm-acist during their third semester at Humber College's Film and Television Production program. They aspire to be a creator that addresses pain points that most of us tend to sweep under the rug, in a manner that is true to their beliefs. With a non-conventional perspective on filmmaking, they aim to effectively advocate for people to audiences all over the world.
